Emergencies

Emergency | Water Main Leak

In the case of a leak in our water mains the water pressure in the lines drop, or becomes non-existent:

  • We notify the members affected that they will be under a boil order once water returns.
  • If you have lost water pressure or have gone without water, please notify our office (hyperlink to Contact Us). Any time water pressure drops below 20 pounds per square inch in any part of a community’s distribution system, a boil order must be issued as a precaution to protect customers.

  • During a boil order do not drink, cook, or make baby formula with the water.

  • Water should be brought to a rolling boil for 5 minutes before consuming in these ways.
  • After fixing the leak we send a water sample test to make sure the source is safe.
  • When the water sample comes back as safe we will call members notifying them that the boil order has been lifted.
  • We also post the status of boil orders on our social media accounts.

Emergency | Natural Disaster

In the case of a catastrophe we recommend that our members prepare for losing water service:

  • It is advised that for each person 1 gallon of water per day should be stored, more should be stored for those pregnant or in poor health.
  • Keep in mind the water needs of pets.
  • The minimum amount of water that should be prepared is a storage supply for three days, and ideally two weeks.
  • If there is an order not to drink the water during a catastrophe, do not use the water until we have notified that it is safe to consume.
  • If bottled water is not available in an emergency you can find more information at The CDC on how to make a water source safe.
